“Table for Five” is the first short movie of my trilogy-documentary made about my family’s experiences as immigrants from Ukraine to Israel, and their struggles to assimilate. In this first out of the three, we can hear my mother’s stories expressing nostalgia and the talks around the Christmas dinner we had, while seeing archive family photos and the footage I made. During my studies, my interest in the family’s photo archive deepened and I started researching it. Taking a look into my family’s past, made me realize that by rearranging these materials, I can provide a platform and show them as a time capsule or as an historical document that testifies for the end of an era.
